Au Revoir 2010

Those who know me will know that I’m not the most enthusiastic person on the 31st of December. The whole ‘we must have fun’ mantra bugs me and I end up a right miserable sod. However, this 31st of December would see us saying goodbye to not only 2010 but also our French vet Anais, who had been with us for just under a year. This year has seen quite an influx of frenchies and Anais would be the last to leave. In honour of Anais and her fellow stripy jumper wearing, baguette obsessed countrymen I put myself up to be in charge of organising a New Years party and decided it would have a French theme.

I turned the visitor centre into little Paris complete with Eifel Tower and designed a version of the game ‘Pin the Tail on the Donkey’. In my version you had to ‘Accessorise the Frenchie’ - which Frenchie? Why Gerard Depardieu of course! The game involved being blindfolded and attaching all kinds of French accessories to Gerard, things such as red wine, cheese, a dodgy moustache, a dodgy beard, a beret and not to forget the Baguette!
I was of course DJ extraordinaire and a great time was had by all, especially as we had a surprise visit from Cheri of Morkel Metre fame and her boyfriend and past volunteer Little Matt. Kate looked very ‘ooh la la’ in her stripy black dress and I looked extremely dashing in my French nobleman attire, as I’m sure you’ll agree!
Au Revoir Anais, we miss you enormously and I am now extremely sad not having any Frenchies around to play with :(
Good luck for the future and always remember my words of wisdom: J'habite à la maison avec un sandwich au jambon!
